As the fete has finished, the silent auction has been concluded

 

This year the silent auction raised the fantastic sum of £2,560.

The silent auction is a variant of the English auction in which bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. Live Bids will be taken on the field at the fete from 1pm to 4.30pm.

 

The auction is organised by Jan and David Sprake.  

 

Lot 1. An insider’s tour of Hertford College, plus lunch in the dining hall for 2 people. Donated by Caroline Rice, Hertford College

Lot 4. A 70cl Bottle of Isle of Harris Gin 45%, Harris Gin Tea and two glasses. Isle of Harris gin, infused with sugar kelp from the Outer Hebrides. A lot to bring a smile to all gin lovers! Donated by Mike Collins

Lot 5. 'Grandpa Nick's Asian Supper Takeaway'. A delicious menu for four people to include: Chicken satay with peanut sauce, pork patties with spicy carrot sauce, Thai fishcakes with chilli sauce, green Thai chicken curry, chilli pork, sag aloo, sweet potato cakes, homemade rhubarb chutney and rice. Last year's successful bidder says "I was the successful bidder for last year’s lot of a bespoke painted teapot from The Funky Teapot Company. It was painted for my God daughter and her new husband  with a design I chose helped by the painter and they were absolutely delighted with it"

Lot 9. A private tour for four of beautiful Kirtlington Park, an 18th Century Palladian mansion set in rural Oxfordshire. With tea or early evening drinks, as appropriate. Dates and times to be arranged. Donated by Peter and Eleanor Buxton.

Last year's successful bidder says "The trip to Kirtlington Park was a truly memorable experience. We were warmly welcomed into the house with drinks and nibbles and spent some time talking about the history of the house and then had a guided tour. Having walked passed the house many times I had been so keen to go inside. My guests also felt it was a really special evening.  It is very impressive and special to get to see inside."

Lot 16. Kirtlington Stud: A visit for 8 people on a date to be arranged (on a weekday before end of August). Lot 17. Two VIP passes for the British Touring Car Championship - Rockingham 11/12th August 2018. Access to the BTCC paddock at all times including the Pit Lane walkabout when there's a chance to meet the drivers for photos and autographs. Lot 18. A trial flight extra at Oxford Gliding Club! Two launches on an OGC glider. Depending on the weather, the flights will be between 10 and 20 minutes each. Lot 24. A ‘Family Pack’ selection of 30 books published over a period of 30 years by local author Haydn Middleton, ranging from children's primary age readers to adult novels, on subjects that include sport, nature, history and mythology – often with a humorous bent! Lot 29. 'A Mascot for a Day' at an Oxford United match of your choice for next season. Lot 30. The successful bidder and a guest may visit the home of one of the world’s most successful Formula One teams, Williams, in Grove, Oxfordshire. Join your host for morning coffee in the Alan Jones bar, before commencing a tour of the state-of-the-art, multi-million pound Grand Prix Collection. This interactive museum houses around 40 Williams Formula One cars dating from 1978 onwards.
